SAWCC London bursts out from behind closed doors after six years of private members-only monthly sessions. This special night features SAWCC’s signature style: independently-forged, multi-disciplinary live music and video art. With an all-star eclectic female line up of vocalists, soul divas, DJs, and artists. Hosted by renowned arts broadcaster, Razia Iqbal.
Anarkali Elektra :London’s finest DJ and nu-era IT girl spins her collection of classic dub, reggae, hip-hop, ska, filmi tunes, and soul music.
Moushumi Bhowmik: Kolkata- and London-based singer and songwriter. Her repertoire combines original compositions reflecting diverse musical traditions, as well as rare, disappearing songs drawn from Bengali folk traditions, performing with her band Parapar.
Sanchita Farruque: After collaborating with the likes of Nitin Sawhney and Badmarsh&Shri, Farruque returns to the scene with her solo debut album. “Like Winehouse, Farruque […] inflects a fundamentally soul-based sound with the nuances of a strong personality, a little jazz agility, and a contemporary Londoner’s multi-ethnic input.” —The Guardian
Sarah Sayeed: Unique artist—a singer, MC, and lyricist who has developed her own sound and live performance over the past ten years, including setting up the record label Sister Elements. She will be playing the Sydney Festival with Jonzi D in an upcoming hip-hop theatre musical.
Poulomi Desai presents a video retrospective of her eclectic art, from photography to sound installations. She “seeks to expose the hidden, the discrete and the unfashionable.” She recently founded Harrow’s only contemporary art gallery, Usurp Art Gallery and Studios.
