JOIN SAWCC FOR OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS.

What is it?

The monthly meetings are gatherings, organized by members of the Collective to facilitate a forum that would engage the creative works of women of South Asian descent. We hope to offer a space where South Asian women's experiences, perspectives and works can be profiled; facilitate a forum for feedback on artists' work; and provide a space to network with other artists and community workers.

Format:

The formats of the meetings are casual and informal. At every meeting, we have two facilitators. The facilitators work with other members of SAWCC and the Board to coordinate the meetings and presenters. We profile two artists and their work through presentation and groups discussion. SAWCC strives to maintain diversity in the mediums we present as a whole, as well as diversity in our membership. We encourage facilitators to invite women they know to the meetings.

Who attends SAWCC meetings?

SAWCC's membership is made up both emerging and established artists as well as women who are interested in the work of South Asian artists. Our members comprise of community workers, lawyers, educators, activists, arts administrators, students and many others who are involved in various trades and professions. SAWCC monthly meetings are open only to women of South Asian descent. Public events are designed for and open to all.
